AFCCPC and CFC Co-host LSS in Florida

A Life in the Spirit Seminar, announced as a "Weekend of Reflection and Renewal: Putting on the Mind of Christ and the Power of the Holy Spirit" and jointly hosted by the Cape Coral Couples for Christ Family Ministry and the AFCCPC (Southeastern Region), was held on April 9-10, 2011, in North Fort Myers, FL, and conducted by Bro. Bob Canton. The Regional Coordinator in this area is Bro. Ramon Mescallado, who is also our The Trumpet editor. Also in this area living as a seasonal resident is Bro. Al and Sister Terri Albarracin. Bro. Juan Cordero is the servant leader of the Cape Coral CFC Family Ministry. About 100 attended the Saturday session and about 140 attended the Sunday session. Bob talked on "God's Love" and "Sin and Repentance". He also talked on the "Baptism in the Holy Spirit" and shared what he learned at the recently-held Colloquium on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit held at the Vatican. He also showed the ICCRS DVD on the history of Catholic Charismatic Renewal which the audience, seeing it for the first time, much welcomed and admired. The Prayer for Healing in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit was conducted by Brother Bob with Gerry and Lois Mader of the National Service Committee and the Commission on Charismatic Renewal of the Diocese of Venice assisting.
Assisting Bro. Bob in the teaching and witnessing presentations were: Dr. Tony Gabarda ("Transformation in Christ"), Gerry Mader ("Salvation"), Lois Mader ("Growth in the Spirit"), Al and Terri Albarracin ("New Life"). Dr. Gabarda is a medical oncologist in the Port Charlotte, FL, area and is a servant leader of the Couples for Christ community. Gerry Mader serves in the Venice (FL) Diocese as Chair of the Charismatic Renewal Commission and also serves in the National Service Committee. Lois Mader is a certified spiritual director and currently serves as Coordinator for the Mother of Mercy Magnficat Chapter for the Venice Diocese. Terri Albarracin is a Coordinator of the North Central region of the AFCCPC.
Half of the attendees were Filipinos and the event served as an evangelistic outreach to those who have not been exposed to the charismatic renewal and "fanned the flame" in those who already have been baptized in the Holy Spirit. Because 50% of the attendees were Americans, the event also bonded the Filipinos and Americans in the Ft Myers and Cape Coral areas in their charismatic Catholic faith and journey.
After the prayer for Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Bro. Bob conducted a healing session and the resulting signs and wonders of healing re-enforced most everyone's faith in God's love and the power of the Holy Spirit.
